Clause 5.1         Service Level Agreement (Lower North Coast)

Section 2(a) and b(i) Rural Fires Act 1997

3.0       Definitions

4.0       Policy statement

4.1        The operation of Nambucca Rural Fire Brigades out of their normal brigade area is permitted and defined under the Service Level Agreement.

The same Agreement applies to the Kempsey Rural Fire Brigades as partners in the Lower North Coast Zone.

The Agreement is renewed every three years.  The next review is 30 June 2010.

5.0        History

Prior to the existence of the Service Level agreement it was necessary for Councils to have policies that permitted volunteers and equipment to fight fires outside of their local government area. These policies are superseded.

The Rural Fire service Commission is responsible for operational control and can authorise out of area assistance whether for bushfires or assistance to other organisations.
