New Equipment Arrives just in time for International Day of People with Disability
Members of Nambucca Shire Council’s Access Committee, joined staff of Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre and local swimmer, Kerry Sanders to mark for International Day of People with Disability. Held on 3 December each year, it is an opportunity to celebrate the many contributions people with disability make to our community and to work on removing banners to their participation in day-to-day activities.

Committee members were given a demonstration of the new Pelican Wheelchair which allows people with disability easy access to the 50m pool. Purchased with a combination of local fund raising and grant funding, the Wheelchair connects easily and quickly to the pool-side hoist allowing entry into the Pool with dignity.
With the arrival of warmer weather and the opening of the 50m pool, the new chair allows people the choice of using either of the 2 pools at the Aquatic and Fitness Centre
Swimming and water-based exercise are excellent ways to stay healthy and happy. The smiles say it all!
