FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Direct and indirect impact on current and future budgets
If the damages claim is unsuccessful, the repairs will need to be funded from existing unsealed road maintenance budgets or additional funds drawn from working funds. This will potentially impact on current budgets, by reducing the scope of works that can be completed this financial year on roads outside the route of the rally.
Source of fund and any variance to working funds
Alternatively, the repairs could be funded directly from Working Funds
Service level changes and resourcing/staff implications
Repair works are currently being undertaken by contract labour so there are no staffing implications associated with the repairs. Significant time has been provided by Engineering Staff to collect, collate, and cost the damages pre and post-race. This has been absorbed within existing budgets for engineering salaries and is similar to a storm damage event
