MACKSVILLE MEMORIAL AQUATIC AND FITNESS CENTRE INCIDENT

Nambucca Valley Council wishes to advise the community of a safety incident at Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre (MMAFC) Monday 20 May 2024.

A chlorine dosing incident caused an excess of chlorine gas in the enclosed heated pool area whilst learn to swim lessons were being conducted.

SafeWork NSW have conducted an investigation into the incident and are satisfied that the safety issues identified have been fixed and the pool is safe. The gym and outdoor pool are now open and the indoor heated pool will be operating normally from Wednesday 22 May 2024.

Council has been advised by local police that all children who were affected by the incident are safe and doing well.

Council understands the concern this incident may cause among our community members, and we assure you that the facility is safe and operating normally.
