Council Advisory Committees

Youth Council.jpg

Council seeks input from community in a variety of ways. One very effective way to advise Council is through an official Advisory Committee.

Advisory Committees are often for targeted issues or groups in our community and are made up of people with expertise and lived experience. Advisory Committees also have a Councillor Delegate who sits on the Committee.

Please see below for more information about Nambucca Valley Council's community advisory committees or contact Council's Community Development Officer for more information.

Nambucca Valley Youth Council

Nambucca Valley Youth Council was formed in 2025 in response to community feedback that more support and understanding of youth and how to address issues that matter to them was needed.

Open to young people aged between 13 and 18, Nambucca Valley Youth Councillors aim to:

Get the youth voice out!
Speak up and provide input to Council to help and support youth across the Valley

Make change!
Help with projects that make Nambucca Valley a better place for young people. Speak up for issues like youth justice.

Bring solutions and actions
Figure out what's most important issues and give ideas to fix it. Encourage youth participation and action.

Build skills and create opportunities
Provide guidance and understanding, work together, encourage learning, and create opportunities for ourselves and other young people into the future

Include everyone
Include all youth and let everyone know they are not alone. Give everyone a chance and create a community.

Call out good work
Let everyone know about the good work of youth in the Valley and encourage positive attitudes towards young people.
