Open Streets Festival

Are you interested in radio, interviews, storytelling, media or just having a go at something different?

The Youth Media Crew is putting together a team for the Open Streets Festival on Saturday 19 September 2026.

We’re looking for young people aged 14 to 24 to get involved in capturing the stories, people and atmosphere of this exciting community event.

This is a hands-on opportunity to learn basic interview skills, work with recording equipment, build confidence and gain real-world experience in media and content creation. Youth participants will receive training before the festival and mentoring and support on the day.

The interviews and content recorded at the festival will be edited and shared through the Open Streets Festival’s social media platforms and provided to 2NVR FM. Content may include interviews, short videos, photos, vox pops and other stories from the event.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Youth Media Crew, you may:

• conduct scheduled interviews with festival organisers, performers, stallholders and community members
• do vox pop-style interviews with people attending the festival
• work with portable audio equipment, mobile video and microphones
• help capture the atmosphere, activities and stories of Open Streets
• create content for social media and online platforms
• work as part of a team to help tell the story of the festival.

Who can register

You can register if you:

• are aged 14 to 24
• are interested in media, radio, interviewing, video, photography or storytelling
• are keen to learn and have a go
• are available for the Open Streets Festival in Macksville on Saturday 19 September 2026.

No previous media experience is required — just enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to get involved!

Want to be part of making Nambucca Valley Open Streets happen behind the scenes?

The Event Crew will help with a range of jobs before and during the festival, from setting up activities and helping performers to welcoming people, supporting other youth activities and keeping things running on the day.

You’ll work alongside the event team, meet other young people and get hands-on experience in how a community festival comes together. It’s a great way to contribute, learn new skills and be part of something big!
