Bowraville Off River Water Storage

Environmental Impact Statement Bowraville Off River Water Storage

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was prepared on behalf of Nambucca Shire Council for the proposed Bowraville Off River Water Storage in the Nambucca Valley. The total $54m project cost will provide a dam with a surface area of about 60 hectares and a capacity of approximately 4,500ML as well as new bores, transfer pipeline, collection tank and associated infrastructure.

The purpose of the dam is to secure the water supply for the existing and future population of the Nambucca Valley during periods of drought. The stored water will be fed directly into the town supply system during periods of low river flows.

The EIS was on public exhibition from Thursday 22 October 2009 and the public were encouraged to provide written submissions by the 15 January 2010.

A hard copy of the documents can be viewed at Council's Administration Centre, 44 Princess Street Macksville.  Enquiries to Richard Spain, Manager Water and Sewerage on (02) 6568 0234.
