Landslip remediation works ramp up across valley
Published on 13 January 2026
Remediation work to fix about 90 landslips across the valley and its impacts on rural roads will kick off in February after Council received some disaster recovery funding from the NSW Government.
Nambucca Valley Council General Manager Bede Spannagle said Council’s Disaster Recovery Projects team had completed a significant amount of preparatory work and engineering assessments and now contractors could start work.
“It’s excellent to see multiple remediation projects getting underway this year to fix some significant landslips, caused by flooding in 2022 and 2025,” he said.
“Our community will be seeing contractors hit the ground for the next two to three years to carry out remediation work at up to 90 landslip sites.”
Significant landslip remediation works are scheduled to occur on the following roads in early to mid-2026:
- Johns Bridge, Misabotti Road, Missabotti
- Piggot Street, Nambucca Heads
- River Street, Macksville
- Riverside Drive, Nambucca Heads
- Taylors Arm Rd, at Congarinni, Burrapine, and Thumb Creek
- Upper Buckra Bendinni Road, Buckra Bendinni
- Welshes Creek Road, Talarm.
Council would like to thank our community for its patience and motorists for driving safely and adhering to some closed road signs installed across the valley.
From February 2026, residents will start to see surveyors out doing geotechnical and hydrological surveys at landslip sites, and work crews and plant repairing infrastructure.
