Some great events and community connection initiatives are going to happen with support from Council’s Community Grants Program.
Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee said he was pleased Council was backing four great initiatives that would bring community members closer together.
“From February 2024 to June 2025, Council led a deep engagement process with our community to develop a 10-year Community Strategic Plan,” he said.
“One of the plan’s overarching aspirations was fostering an inclusive, safe and connected community.
“Council’s Community Grants Program is one way we are supporting our community to achieve this and backing our important not-for-profit groups and the volunteers who run them.”
Successful recipients of this round of the Community Grants Program are:
-
Lions Club Macksville – $3960 to upgrade its pop-up community hub
-
ShoreTrack - $3557 to support its Open Shed event
-
Back to Bowra event, through the Nambucca Valley Tourism Association - $4995 for event support
-
Nambucca Valley Phoenix - $5000 to support community music and socialisation picnic afternoons.
ShoreTrack Co-Founder and CEO Jill Ashley said the Open Shed event would bring Macksville businesses and young people together.
“The Open Shed day will connect our community – especially the businesses operating in the Macksville Industrial Estate – to what we do here at ShoreTrack,” she said.
“This gives us the chance to talk about how we can work together to address skills shortages and to help young people in our community to pathway into employment.
“The more opportunities there are for young people in our community, the better. I am really looking forward to working with Council on this project.”
Round 2 of the Community Grants Program will open to applications on 31 October 2025. Grants of up to $5000 may be awarded.
Incorporated not-for-profit associations or organisations, with an Australian Business Number and operations in the Nambucca Valley, can apply. To be successful, applications are required to have an alignment to the outcomes in the Community Strategic Plan available on Council’s website here.
