Council’s grading crew finished grading unsealed roads in the Taylors Arm area this week, from the end of the sealed section of Taylors Arm Road to Sheet O’Bark Road.

Nambucca Valley Council General Manager Bede Spannagle said next week the grading crew will head to Yarranbella, west of Talarm.

“Council maintains many thousands of kilometres of gravel roads across the Nambucca Valley and grading is an essential part of our infrastructure maintenance plan,” he said.

“Council delivers its unsealed rural road maintenance program by employing a dedicated five-personnel grading team,” he said.

“Our five-team member crew and their grader, tip truck and trailer, and water cart will be at North Bank Road and Whip Mountain Road next week (11-14 May), weather depending. Expect minor delays if you live off these roads at Yarranbella.”

Here is an outline of the grading crew’s May program, weather permitting:

  • North Bank Road, Yarranbella: Monday 11 May and Thursday 14 May
  • Whip Mountain Road, Yarranbella: Tuesday-Wednesday, 12-13 May
  • Bakers Creek Road, Bakers Creek: Monday 18 May
  • Sundowner Road, Bakers Creek: Tuesday to Friday, 19-22 May
  • Greenhills Road, Bakers Creek/Upper Taylors Arm: Monday-Tuesday, 25-26 May
  • Simpsons Ridge Road, South Arm: Wednesday-Thursday, 27-28 May.

When the grading crew maintains unsealed roads, they do the following tasks:

  • Grade the road surface
  • Clear stormwater pipes of debris
  • Remove unstable material from embankments.

If you wish to let Council know about the condition of an unsealed road, the best way to do it is to download the free mobile phone app, Antenno. Through Antenno, you can save the places you care about and that you wish to receive Council notifications about. You can also take a photo of a section of unsealed road, upload it, and submit it to Council via the app. Alternatively, you can call Council on 6568 2555.
