Nambucca Valley Council is finalising its procurement plan for the Scotts Head Skate and Recreation Park.
Council’s Director Engineering Services, David Moloney, said the next step in delivering the community-driven project is to engage a cross-section of local skaters to finalise a scoping document, which will inform the upcoming call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from skate park builders.
“Local skaters from Scotts Head will be invited to provide input on the proposed skate park style and key design elements to help shape the Design and Construct EOI process,” he said.
“The skate park has been on the drawing board for some time, and it is excellent it secured State Government funding late last year.
“Council’s Engineering Services team is close to completing the procurement plan and will soon start the Design and Construct EOI process with specialised skate park builders.”
In November 2021 to January 2022, Council surveyed the community about a potential skate park. Its location at the Village Green, adjacent to Adin Street, was chosen as the preferred location.
The ideas Council will receive from the small skaters’ user group will be further refined during the detailed design phase with the successful designer/supplier. Once the designer/supplier lands on a final design for the skate and recreation park, which meets both the skaters’ needs and the project budget, it will be publicly exhibited for the whole community to have its say on.
The skate and recreation park is being delivered through 50-50 funding partnership with the NSW Government Infrastructure Grant putting in $255,578 with Council’s budget allocation paired with community donations matching this amount.
