Construction contractors working on the Valla Urban Growth Area project have finished work for 2025 and they will return to work on Monday 5 January 2026.

Nambucca Valley General Manager Bede Spannagle said great progress was made this year, with bulk earthworks for Stage One almost completed and the water trunk main laid under the Pacific Highway.

"Contractors AJ Civil Projects and Ledonne Constructions have worked hard this year and we are on track to finish Stage One works by mid to late 2026," he said.

"Excitingly, the water trunk main was successfully pulled under Red Ash Road and the Pacific Highway by Ledonne subcontractor, Pipeline drillers, last Thursday.

"I wish our construction teams a safe and happy Christmas break and they will be back on site working from 5 January 2026."

When construction contractors return to work in 2026, construction hours will be 7am to 6pm seven days a week, for a short period of time. This is to facilitate Pipeline drillers continuing its horizontal directional drilling works under the Pacific Highway at Valla.

Once horizontal directional drilling work is completed, construction hours will reduce to Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturdays 8am-1pm.

The full scope of works to unlock VUGA Stage One are scheduled to be completed mid 2026. It is being delivered thanks to a total investment from the Australian and NSW Governments of $11.2 million and a $17 million investment from Council.

If you need to make an enquiry or complaint about the project throughout the shutdown period, please call Council on (02) 6568 2555 or Ledonne Constructions on (02) 9546 1662.
