Completion of construction at Valla Urban Growth Area Stage One is nearing after 500 metres of underground electrical wires and communications were completed on Monday.

Nambucca Valley Council General Manager Bede Spannagle said all that is left to do at the mixed-use precinct on the western side of the Pacific Motorway is kerbing, guttering and sealing of the first internal road, proposed to be named Buuluga Road.

“We’ve reached a really exciting stage at VUGA Stage One where all of the essential services required for its 13 large-scale industrial lots, have been installed underground,” he said.

“Trunk main lines for water and sewerage were underbored under the Pacific Highway late last year and early this year, and Coffs Harbour-based business, Northwest Power, finished placing all electrical wires and communications this week.

“AJ Civil Projects have only 120 metres of stormwater drains left to be laid and then all that’s left to do, on the western side, is finalising and asphalting Buuluga Road in May. There is still pipelaying and construction of a sewer pump main to complete on the eastern side of the highway.

“This visionary, mixed-use development is at a very exciting stage, with the state-of-the-art new industrial precinct, located midway between Central Coast-Sydney and Southeast Queensland-Brisbane, on track to be sold mid to late this year.”

To date, within the VUGA Stage One area:

  • 3,500 tonnes of road base placed on Buuluga Road, a proposed name which means Black Myrtle in Gumbaynggirr
  • 650 metres of 150mm watermain pipes have been installed on both sides of Buuluga Road and the connecting Red Ash Road
  • 1 kilometre of stormwater pipes have been installed, with 120m remaining to be laid
  • 500m of underground electrical wires have been placed along with communications conduits and pits.

Placing kerbing and guttering along Buuluga Road is the next construction task, scheduled to occur next week, weather depending. Asphalting this road follows in May, along with the start of construction of the sewer pump station located near the old Boggy Creek Road adjacent to Giinagay Way, on the eastern side of the highway. Then the final pipe laying of water and sewer on the eastern side of the highway will occur, completing connection of VUGA to the valley’s existing water and sewer network.

VUGA Stage One has been delivered through $11.2 million in funding from the Australian and NSW governments and a $17 million investment from Council.

You can have your say on the proposed name, Buuluga Road, by making a submission in writing to the General Manager, Nambucca Valley Council, PO Box 177, Macksville NSW 2447. Any submission may be incorporated in a Council business paper or otherwise publicly disclosed. Submissions will start tomorrow, 3 April 2026, after this proposed local road name was submitted through the Geographical Names Board of NSW.

The closing date for submissions on the proposed local road name is 24 April 2026.
