In under six months, local Mid-North Coast contractor, AJ Civil Projects, has cut and moved 75,000 cubic metres of earth to shape Stage One of the Valla Urban Growth Area precinct.

Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee said this marks the down-hill run for the project’s Stage One bulk earthworks, which is an excellent result in the five months since construction started.

“It’s great to see the Cat 637 scrapers and the D8 dozer shaping what will be a major placemaking project for our community,” he said.

“At this rate, the civil works contractor estimates bulk earthworks for Stage One will be completed by December, weather depending, so then the new access road construction and trenching for the sewer and water main lines can start.

“We’re on track for releasing Stage One industrial lots in 2026, kicking-off new investment for our region and providing new job opportunities locally.”

Stage One of the Valla Urban Growth Area precinct is being delivered thanks to a total investment from the Australian and NSW Governments of $11.2 million and a $17 million investment from Council. The precinct meets many of the goals in Council’s Economic Development & Tourism Strategy.

It will activate 7.74 hectares of affordable industrial land with highway exposure, and all the services of electricity, telecommunications, water and sewerage.

Valla Urban Growth Area precinct seeks to address the critical shortage of suitable land for residential and industrial uses on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. It is a project progressing off the back of 25 years’ worth of strategic planning, consultation and investment.
