Cr David Jones has been involved in local government for over twenty years.
He was elected to the council of the City of Greater Bendigo in 2004 and served from 2004-2008; in 2006 and 2008 he was the Mayor of the City.
After moving to the wonderful Nambucca Valley, David decided to throw his hat in the ring for the local council, more surprised than anyone, he was thrilled to again serve in this important role. Reelected four years later he has seen the Valley grow but also face the great challenges of Fires and Floods.
At the 2024 election David stood as an endorsed Greens Candidate and achieved a full quota in the Councilor vote. He has stated that this new role will see him working strongly to address the environmental challenges the Valley faces. Rising temperatures, erratic and increasingly dangerous flooding and droughts. Issues such as the rising flood levels and how that impacts on our planning will also be a key driver.
David is an ex-history, politics and economics teacher and has taught in Victoria, NSW and China. He has two adult children and two cats, one fussy one sleepy: that’s the cats, not the children.
