Sustainable Expo at Eungai is one successful project in Community Grants Program Round 2
A Sustainable Future Expo showcasing local growers and waste minimisation techniques will be delivered at Unkya Reserve in June, through a Council Community Grant.
Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee said Council voted to fund six great community projects in Round 2 of the grass-roots grants program.
“I’m saving the date of the 28th of June to attend what will be a fabulous Sustainable Future Expo and Funky@Unkya market in Eungai,” he said.
“The expo is one of six successful programs in this round, which was open to not-for-profit organisations operating in our valley to apply for from 31 October to 28 November last year.
“All of the successful projects are aligned to our valley’s Community Strategic Plan and help to make our community more inclusive and connected.”
Other Round 2 community grant recipients are:
- Lions Club of Nambucca Heads for putting on a Nambucca Christmas Festival 2026 - $5000
- Uniting Aboriginal Families Together, Circle of Security Parenting program, Macksville and Bowraville - $4950
- Valley Braves Basketball Association for Be Brave: Strong Minds Youth Project - $5000
- Arts Mid North Coast: Valla Community Music Day - $5000
- Country Women’s Association, Nambucca Valley Evening Branch: Sisters Retreat - $4950.
Nambucca Valley Growers & Producers Chairperson, Ainslie Ashton, thanked Council for the funding and she said the Sustainable Expo would help to support local eco and agri-tourism businesses.
“The expo will provide an event to showcase our local food and our local producers,” she said.
“We will also demonstrate waste minimisation ideas to support our community to take up additional sustainable living practices, thereby helping both the community and environment.
“The Nambucca Valley is made up of mostly tourism and agriculture enterprises, so it is important to have in-depth discussions and interactions about how to build a more sustainable environment.”
