First Sod Turned on Valla Urban Growth Area Stage One

The first sod has been turned to mark the start of water and sewerage infrastructure works for the Valla Employment Lands Redevelopment project, which forms Stage One of the Valla Urban Growth Area precinct, thanks to a total investment from the Australian and NSW Governments of $11.2 million and a $17 million investment from Nambucca Valley Council.

Stage one of the development will see the activation of 7.74 ha of affordable industrial land with highway exposure and secure electricity, telecommunications, water and sewerage services.

Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty said the project will help the region grow, create jobs, and support local communities.

“The Valla Urban Growth Area is about building a better future for the Mid North Coast. With secure infrastructure and affordable industrial land, we’re creating the conditions for business and community success,” Minister Moriarty said.

“By investing in projects like this, the NSW Government is laying the groundwork for sustainable growth that benefits generations to come, this precinct will help unlock housing, employment and innovation across the region.”

Nambucca Valley Council acting Mayor James Angel said it is exciting to see stage one of this critical project progressing off the back of 25 years’ worth of strategic planning, consultation and investment.

“When finalised the Valla Urban Growth Area precinct is expected to increase the Nambucca Valley economy by $380 million per year while supporting over 2800 jobs.”

 “We are pleased to be working with local Mid-North Coast contractors AJ Civil Projects who are currently undertaking civil works, and Ledonne Constructions who will be working on the water and sewer infrastructure. Council expects the initial industrial lots will be released in mid-2026. Acting Mayor Angel said.

Nambucca Valley Council provided initial funds in 2018 to develop the Valla Urban Growth Area Development Control Plan and Masterplan. The preferred masterplan focuses around a town centre and includes a staging plan and environmental, infrastructure, industrial, commercial and residential strategies.

The Valla Urban Growth Area precinct seeks to address a critical shortage of suitable land for residential and industrial uses on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. It aims to increase local housing opportunities so that our region can prosper now and into the future.

The Australian Government invested $3.2 million to the Valla Employment Lands Redevelopment project. The NSW Government invested $5 million to the project through the Infrastructure NSW Restart NSW Program and $3 million through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development NSW Regional Infrastructure Grants Program – Round 1.
