Team is reassessing Grassy Head Rd closure

Council’s infrastructure team is re-assessing its Grassy Head Road pavement rehabilitation program, which had proposed closing the road to all vehicles during the construction period scheduled for two weeks from 17-31 August, weather depending.

Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney said his team acknowledged the detour required by some residents, via Stuarts Point and then the Pacific Motorway, to access Macksville or Scotts Head would be quite long and therefore the infrastructure team was re-examining its program.

“We have listened to our community and our team is re-assessing its program to determine if the necessary, structural pavement repairs can be safely delivered while allowing school buses and some other vehicles through safely, at times, under traffic control,” he said.

“The section of Grassy Head Road which needs structural rehabilitation is a 250-metre long section of the road, 7m wide, from near the intersection of Scotts Head Road, south to about 865 Grassy Head Road. 

“We will communicate with the community and stakeholders early next week once the program re-assessment has been finalised.

“I thank our community for their patience.”
