Grassy Head Road now fully reopened

Grassy Head Road rehabilitation works are now complete and the road has been fully reopened to both lanes of traffic.
Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney said the road was bitumen spray sealed today and then rolled with a multi-tyre roller to compact the road’s surface.
“It’s excellent this 250 metre long, 7m wide section of Grassy Head Road has been fully reopened to traffic as of about 12.30pm today,” he said.
“Our team did a lot of structural rehabilitation work on this road due to the swampy ground surrounding its eastern-side.
“The north-bound lane was dug out to 400-500 millimetres deep and a layer of gabion rock was placed to provide good drainage.
“Next, an approximate 200mm layer of densely graded road base was placed and the road was prepared for sealing.
“I would like to thank our community for their patience and cooperation while we completed this essential upgrade.”
Line marking on this section of Grassy Head Road will be carried out in the coming weeks.
