Scotts Head Master Plan drop-in session attracts crowd

More than 100 people attended the Scotts Head Master Plan community drop-in event over its three hours on Sunday to share their passion for the coastal village.
The drop-in event, held in the Rec Hut on 3 May, was the project’s initial community consultation session, coupled with the survey which is currently open to feedback until 17 May.
Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee attended the session and he said the interactive activities with foreshore maps and large post-it note boards helped to capture the community’s thoughts and love for their village.
“It was exciting to be in Scotts Head with the community looking at the master plan concept ideas,” he said.
“We want to make sure Scotts Head residents and visitors have their say in the town’s foreshore management, so if you couldn’t make it to the info session, please consider filling in the online survey before it closes on 17 May.”
The Scotts Head Master Plan is a Council plan aimed at providing a framework for better managing foreshore areas at Scotts Head and public spaces. Reflections Holidays has significant buy-in to the master plan process, contributing financially to the plan, and as a key tourism operator in Scotts Head, it has an interest in informing the process for improved community outcomes.
John Schmidt, who is one of the community members on the Scotts Head Master Plan project reference group, said the drop-in session provided a great catch-up opportunity, despite the intermittent rain showers.
“Today provided a valuable opportunity for our community to catch up and discuss how special our foreshore areas are to us,” he said.
“A lot of people didn’t realise just how much of the foreshore areas here are managed by Reflections Holidays.
“Today provided a good opportunity to have Council and Reflections Holidays work in partnership with each other and with our community, to discuss how to improve the way our foreshores relate to our village.”
The Scotts Head Master Plan initial survey is open to responses until 17 May 2026 here.
After the initial survey, there will still be two further opportunities for community members to further share their feedback, during a second phase of engagement from June-July, where different parts of the master plan will start to take shape, and then during October-November when the plan will be reported to Council.
