Have your say on the valley’s signage and wayfinding
Published on 11 August 2026
There’s no doubt signage across the Nambucca Valley reveals many decades’ worth of trends and materials. Nambucca Valley Council is working with a consultant to develop a strategy for a consistent approach and style to signage across the valley and to audit current signs and their wayfinding impacts.
Nambucca Valley Council Manager Economic Development and Tourism Jan Rooney said the important project will help guide how people navigate, experience and discover the Nambucca Valley for years to come.
“I’m excited to announce this project is kicking off as signage and wayfinding is extremely important to both residents and visitors alike,” she said.
“We’ve engaged local consultant, Fisher Design & Architecture, to develop a comprehensive strategy that will create a consistent approach to signage across the whole local government area.
“Good signage helps people feel welcome, navigate safely and discover more of what our communities have to offer. I invite anyone with an opinion on our valley’s signage to take up this first opportunity for feedback and attend the drop-in session at Nambucca Community & Arts Centre this Thursday 13 August, from 12.30pm onwards.”
The Nambucca Valley signage and wayfinding project is starting with a first phase of consultation, beginning with a drop-in session in Nambucca Heads, where residents can learn more about the project, share local insights and identify what is working well and where improvements may be needed.
Details of the community drop-in session include:
When: Thursday 13 August
Time: 12.30pm to 5.30pm
Where: Nambucca Community & Arts Centre.
This drop-in session will also include information about the Nambucca Heads Town Centre Master Plan project.
Community members unable to attend this session will have additional opportunities to contribute, with further community drop-in sessions and an online survey planned as the project progresses.
Feedback gathered throughout the consultation process will help shape a strategy that supports safe and positive journeys, promotes local destinations and creates a consistent and recognisable signage experience across the Nambucca Valley.
