Valley celebrates civil construction completion at VUGA Stage One

New industrial opportunities adjacent to the Pacific Motorway and strategically located between Sydney and Brisbane will soon be released to market now civil works for Stage One of the Valla Urban Growth Area (VUGA) are complete.
Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty said the completion of Stage One was a significant milestone that would unlock new economic opportunities for the Nambucca Valley.
“Today’s milestone shows what strong investment and local partnerships can deliver for regional communities. Completing Stage One opens the door to new jobs, new businesses and long-term growth for the Nambucca Valley,” Minister Moriarty said.
“This development is giving the Nambucca Valley the infrastructure it needs to attract investment and support local industries into the future. It’s about building a stronger, more resilient regional economy where people can live, work and build their futures locally.”
Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee said today’s celebration and ribbon cutting event meant a lot to him and his fellow Councillors, as it follows more than 15 years of planning and vision by prior councils.
“Today marks the start of numerous staged celebrations I hope to experience here as we work towards achieving VUGA’s full master-planned vision,” he said.
“It’s exciting to see civil works construction here on the western side of the Pacific Motorway completed for Stage One, thanks to investment from project partners the Australian and NSW Governments.
“I hope today is just the start of this visionary, mixed-use development, and that industrial investors and industries take advantage of the amazing opportunities that will soon be available here, with direct access to national road freight routes.”
VUGA benefits from a highly connected location on the Mid North Coast, with access to the M1 Pacific Motorway linking the region to major markets in South-east Queensland, and Newcastle/Sydney. VUGA Stage One offers 13 large-scale industrial blocks, which range in size from 2591m2 to 7509m2.
Council worked closely on the civil construction for Stage One activation with local Mid North Coast contractor, AJ Civil Projects. Stage One activates 7.74ha of industrial land off Red Ash Road, Valla.
AJ Civil Projects employed about 10 full-time staff on the project and engaged numerous local subcontractors including Blue Dog Earthmoving, Northwest Power, AC Testing Services, and Coffs Kerb & Gutter.
VUGA addresses a critical shortage of suitable land for industrial and residential uses on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and aims to increase local housing opportunities so the region can grow.
The Australian Government invested $3.2 million to the Valla Employment Lands Redevelopment project. The NSW Government invested $5 million to the project through the Infrastructure NSW Restart NSW Program and $3 million through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Regional NSW Infrastructure Grants Program – Round 1.
