The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted about 100mm of rain will fall over the Mid North Coast region in coming days.

Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney yesterday attended a briefing at the Nambucca Emergency Operations Centre and he said fortunately it is a short weather system in our area which is expected to clear by about Saturday 30 May.

“The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting the low-pressure trough system to move offshore by about Saturday, which should see rain conditions easing,” he said.

“While our area has no flood warnings presently, it is important to be prepared, especially if you live in an area susceptible to flooding.

“You can monitor the river level and water over roads via Council’s network of flood cameras. There are six cameras installed delivering live-stream imagery at Factory Bridge – Upper Taylors Arm, Laverty’s Bridge – Taylors Arm, Little Broughys and Lanes bridges – Bowraville, Cassidy’s Bridge – Newee Creek, and at Ferry Street – Macksville.

“I encourage everyone to be prepared by monitoring information from our local State Emergency Service and downloading the Hazards Near Me app during this time.”

To view the live-stream from Council’s flood cameras, visit Council’s website. Or you can visit the home page and search flood cameras in the search tool bar. Download the Hazards Near Me app to stay across the latest information and warnings in your area.

The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting the low-pressure trough to move offshore by Saturday 30 May, subject to change.

While the pattern is similar to the east coast low of May 2025, the Bureau of Meterology is not predicting it will be as severe as this weather system.

If you need assistance during storms of floods, call the NSW SES on 132 500. In a life-threatening emergency, always call triple zero (000).
