Heavy Patching and Reseal Works
Each year, Nambucca Valley Council allocates funding to its Heavy Patching and Reseal Program to renew and preserve sealed roads across the local road network. These works are an important part of Council's ongoing road maintenance program and help extend the life of existing road pavements through preventative maintenance.
2026-27 Program
The 2026-27 Heavy Patching and Reseal Program is currently being finalised.
Council is undertaking inspections across the local road network to assess pavement condition and identify the roads that require the most urgent repairs and resealing. The annual works program is prioritised based on road condition, safety, asset performance and available funding. The program is compared against other externally funded road works, such as, Natural Disaster Recovery projects.
Stay informed
Once the 2026 works schedule is confirmed, Council will notify affected residents and provide updates through the Antenno app. Residents and businesses that will have property acess disrupionshave will be contacted in the lead up to works. It is expected that normal traffic delays will be communicated via the Antenno App and Facebook.

What to expect during resealing
Spray sealing is a preventative road treatment that involves applying a bitumen binder followed by a layer of aggregate to protect the existing road surface. During and immediately after works, motorists may encounter loose stones, reduced speed limits and traffic control. Road sweeping is carried out following sealing to remove excess aggregate and improve driving conditions.
Why resealing is important
Resealing roads before significant deterioration occurs is one of the most cost-effective ways to maintain the road network. Over time, bitumen seals oxidise, becoming brittle and more susceptible to cracking. These cracks allow water to penetrate the pavement, weakening the underlying layers and accelerating pavement damage. By sealing the pavement against water and weather damage, spray sealing helps extend the life of the road, improves safety and reduces the need for more extensive and costly road reconstruction in the future.
