Go Deeper well received by tourism industry

The Nambucca River has been celebrated in the valley’s new destination brand: Go Deeper, launched at the Hacienda Nambucca recently.
Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney said the brand was well received by visitor economy businesses and stakeholders at its launch on Wednesday 22 July.
“Go Deeper is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Nambucca Valley, as it will support the promotion of a strong and unified narrative to visitors, investors and future residents,” he said.
“By providing this branding kit to visitor economy businesses, we are supporting the growth of our local visitor economy and we are proudly communicating what makes our valley a unique and special place.”
Council’s Manager Economic Development and Tourism Jan Rooney and the team at the Nambucca Valley Visitor Information Centre led the creation of the new destination brand with the community and a graphic design studio.
Consultation with industry and the Nambucca Valley community occurred in Q1 2026 and a survey capturing what makes our valley special was held for both visitors and residents over Christmas 2025 and the New Year period.
“Our brand is a bold and authentic expression of our deep connection to each other, our natural landscapes and to our valley’s Indigenous cultural heritage,” she said.
“I’m proud of the final brand result, as it represents our unique valley well, while being both timeless and broad enough to suit each individual visitor economy business’ chosen application.
“I would like to thank everyone involved in the destination branding project, particularly the Duguula Bindarray-Garri Aboriginal Advisory Committee, who advised on incorporating Gumbaynggirr language into the design’s place names.”
Jemma Ortiger of Saturday Design Studio graphic designed Go Deeper’s brand voice, new logo and visual assets.
“The Nambucca River kept coming up in consultation and in our research as an important feature for the valley,” she said.
“The river acts as a connecting thread that flows from the hinterland to the coast. It’s like a connecting thread with all the villages along the river.
“People in their stories and reflections about place shared their love of the river, its oysters and the many river-based activities the community does, such as kayaking, fishing, and swimming.
“This is why we highlighted the river in the logo itself, elevating it as the core element which makes the Nambucca Valley unique and a very desirable place to visit.”
Visitor economy businesses are invited to access the Go Deeper brand voice kit by dropping into the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) on the corner of Riverside Drive and Giinagay Way, Nambucca Heads, or contacting the VIC on (02) 6568 0289.
