Community invited to take survey and shape event delivery

Council has secured $460,000 in funding through the NSW Government’s Permit/Plug/Play Program to support street-based event delivery in the Nambucca Valley. Events play an important part in keeping our community connected and supporting tourism and the valley’s visitor economy.
Through the program, Council plans to map its current event delivery processes and chart a course for making delivery of street-based events less complicated and more accessible.
Nambucca Valley Acting General Manager David Moloney said a community survey was out now to invite event organisers, event volunteers, and residents to have their say on event delivery in the valley.
“Holding events are a great way to connect residents, attract tourists, and celebrate our great towns and villages in the valley,” he said.
“Organising an event can be challenging and it involves navigating permits, approvals, traffic management, public safety, insurance, waste management and other requirements.
“We aim to improve Council’s event processes through the Permit/Plug/Play program to make event delivery easier for community groups and volunteers.
“Please take a few minutes to fill in the event survey and share your experiences. We’ve extended the survey time-frame by two more weeks to give people more time.”
Minister for Transport, Minister for Music and the Night-Time Economy, John Graham said:
“We know that vibrant streets deliver cultural, social and economic benefits. Streets are at the heart of community life – places to meet, support local businesses, and celebrate what makes our communities unique.
“Activating them can be challenging due to the costs and complexities of approvals and temporary road closures.
“The Permit/Plug/Play program helps councils and organisers overcome these barriers, which means more free events for the community to enjoy.”
Council has engaged a consultant to support the delivery of the project, Courtney Tune of Alt Collective, who has been reaching out to event organisers and community groups in the valley.
The project is expected to include the development of an event tool kit to help guide event organisers through the process of delivering events and a new Event Strategy for the valley.
The event survey can be taken here.
The survey closes 5pm Friday 13 November 2026.
Council’s participation in the Permit/Plug/Play Program helps to deliver on priorities in the Nambucca Valley Community Strategic Plan 2035, including increasing delivery of community-based events.
