Small Business Month brings opportunities for businesses

Businesses across the Nambucca Valley are being encouraged to make the most of a range of workshops, networking opportunities and promotional initiatives being delivered throughout Small Business Month this October.
Nambucca Valley Council Manager Economic Development and Tourism Janice Rooney said Council has this year partnered with a range of organisations to offer a diverse program designed to help businesses strengthen their marketing, build networks, and access support.
“Small Business Month is an opportunity for local businesses to connect with the broader business community and for the broader community to show their appreciation to small businesses,” she said.
"Small businesses are the backbone of our valley’s economy, creating local jobs, supporting our communities and contributing to the unique character of our towns.
"Small Business Month provides a valuable opportunity for business owners to gain new skills, make new connections and discover resources that can help them grow in an increasingly competitive environment."
A key initiative during the month is Council's Shop Local Campaign, which encourages residents and visitors to support local businesses and keep spending within the region. Businesses are invited to make use of a suite of free promotional resources and digital assets.
The Nambucca Valley Small Business Month program includes:
- Canva for Business: Shop Local Workshop
A practical hands-on workshop designed to help business owners create professional marketing materials using Canva and customise free Nambucca Valley Shop Local digital templates.

- Nambucca Business Women's Breakfast
An opportunity for local businesswomen to connect, share experiences and build professional networks.

Venue: Wharf Street Café, Nambucca Heads
- Meet and Greet Business Support Providers
Business owners are invited to meet the region's new business support providers and learn about available services and assistance programs.
Date: Wednesday 21 October 2026
Time: 8.30-9.30am
Venue: Nambucca Heads TAFE Connected Learning Centre
- From Good to Unmissable: Turning Regional Strengths into Business Wins
Part of the Business Events Workshop Series, this interactive session will explore how businesses can leverage the region's unique strengths to create memorable customer experiences and drive growth.
Date: Thursday 22 October 2026
Time: 10am-12pm
Venue: Nambucca Heads RSL Club.
Ms Rooney said the program reflects Council's ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses.
“Whether you're starting out, looking to expand, or simply wanting to connect with other business operators, there's something in this program for everyone," she said.
"We encourage businesses to take advantage of these opportunities and be part of building a stronger and more resilient local economy."
