Splash pad opens ready for the long weekend

Families are starting to flock to the new splash pad which opened today at Bellwood Park in Nambucca Heads.

Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee visited the new play space yesterday and said it would be a new drawcard for families thinking of visiting Nambucca and the region.

“It was great to see children enjoying the splash pad yesterday (Thursday 2 October) during a demonstration of its infrastructure to Councillors,” he said.

“It builds on our region’s already great reputation for providing outdoor fun and it is an excellent addition to a park already adjacent to a river.

“I’m proud of Council’s Engineering Services team for meeting its commitment to have it built and open by the October long weekend, giving our influx of visitors a fantastic new offering to enjoy.”

The splash pad opens every day from 8.30am to about half-an-hour before dusk. It was delivered through funding from the Australian Government under the Local Community Infrastructure Program - Phase 4 - and funding from Council.

The splash pad’s water play features take approximately three minutes to cycle. After each cycle is finished, the water stops flowing for 40 seconds until a child pushes a button located on a post on the edge of the pad.

Council resolved at is Ordinary Meeting on 27 February this year to peruse funding options for a potential splash pad at Bowraville. No funding option has yet been secured.
