After five months of work by Council’s contractor, the interior of the Valla Beach reservoir now shines like a mirror.

Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney said residents at Valla will notice a drop in water pressure from about Wednesday this week, 1 July, when the area’s water network is expected to reconnect to the reservoir supply.

“This decades-old piece of infrastructure has been given a new lease on life, with an interior so polished, you can virtually see your reflection in it,” he said.

“Alfab Services, a specialist fabrication and industrial cleaning contractor, spent many months cleaning the reservoir’s internal walls by high-pressure blast cleaning and then they repainted it.

“I'd like to thank our community for its patience and slowing down at times while driving on Valla Beach Road while the refurbishment works were carried out.”

One of Council’s key roles is delivering affordable, reliable potable water to residents and businesses within towns of the Nambucca Valley. This refurbishment of the Valla reservoir will ensure Valla Beach and Valla residents receive clean, potable water for generations to come.

Alfab Services team started work at the Valla Beach reservoir on 2 February 2026. To facilitate the refurbishment, the reservoir was taken offline and drained of water in late January.

While the reservoir was offline, the Valla Beach and Valla communities received potable water via Council’s trunk main system, which provides water at a higher pressure.

Council’s water team started refilling the reservoir with water on Monday 29 June. It will take about two to three days to refill and test the water quality to ensure it meets drinking water quality standards. Once it meets this standard, the reservoir will be reconnected to the water infrastructure network, expected on about Wednesday or Thursday, 1-2 July 2026.
